What we know about you.

The short version

We run Google Analytics to count pages and outbound clicks in aggregate. That sets cookies. We do not run advertising, we do not build profiles, we do not sell anything about you, and we have no way to identify you personally from what we receive.

What our analytics records

Google Analytics 4 records the ordinary things: which pages were opened, roughly where in the world the reader was, which browser and device type, and where they arrived from. It sets cookies to tell one visit from another. Your IP address is used by Google to derive that approximate location and, for European visitors, is not stored.

We add one custom event of our own, called affiliate_click. When you follow a link that leaves this site, it records three things: the destination host, the path of the page you were on, and the text of the link. Not who you are, and not what you bought. It exists because outbound clicks are the only way we can tell a page that gets read from a page that is useful.

What happens when you click through to Amazon

Our links to Amazon carry a tracking tag so Amazon can attribute a sale to this site. Once you arrive there you are on Amazon's site, under Amazon's privacy notice, and they set their own cookies.

What comes back to us is a report of aggregate figures: how many items were ordered and what commission is owed. It carries no names, no addresses and no payment details, and we cannot see who any individual order belonged to.

What we do not do

1. No advertising, no ad networks and no remarketing pixels.
2. No accounts, no logins, no newsletter, no comment section.
3. No selling, renting or sharing of data with anyone.
4. No third-party embeds beyond the two named above — the only other outside request this site makes is to Google Fonts for the typefaces.

Your rights, and how to opt out

Switching our analytics off is entirely in your hands and needs no permission from us: a content blocker, your browser's tracking protection, or Google's own opt-out add-on all stop it. The site works identically either way — nothing here is behind a wall.

If you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you and to have it erased. The honest answer is that we hold none that identifies you, so there is nothing to return or delete — but if you want that confirmed in writing, ask us and we will confirm it. Californian residents have a comparable right to know and to opt out of sale; we sell nothing, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Changes to this policy

If we add anything that collects data — a newsletter, a comment section, a second analytics tool — this page changes before that thing ships, not afterwards. Last updated 31 July 2026.
